Stall Perception Game Study

Thank you for your interest in participating in our study! This research is being conducted at the University of Reading to investigate how people perceive stuttering or stalls during gameplay.

2. Complete the Consent Form

After reading the information sheet, please complete the consent form before downloading the application:

3. Download the Application

It is possible to download the application for both Windows and Mac systems.

3.a Windows Users

Once you have submitted the consent form, you can download the experiment app here:

⚠️ If you see a Windows SmartScreen warning, click "Run" → "Run anyway".

Firewall and Network Notice

This application sends anonymous gameplay data to a secure University of Reading server. When you run the app, Windows Defender Firewall may show a message saying:

“Windows Defender Firewall has blocked some features of this app…”

This is expected. Please click “Allow Access” to let the application upload your results. The data sent contains no personal identifiers and is used strictly for research purposes approved by the University of Reading ethics committee.

Uninstall the Application

After the completion of the experiment, you can uninstall the application by searching for Stall Perception on 'Add or Remove Programs'

3.b Mac Users

Mac users can download a .zip file with the application inside here:

If you see a warning due to Apple not recognising the application, you can see the Apple support page on how to run the application anyway by clicking on this link. Or follow the instrcutions of the video below:
